The whole reason he wrote 6-11 is to explain what it means to have the mind of Christ and to explain the results of having this mind. In verses 6-8, Paul explains the humility of Christ. And in verses 9-11, he explains the exaltation of Christ. In Psalm 47:9, God Himself was "highly exalted." Jesus was highly exalted both as the coming Son of David and as the Lord. The last phrase of this verse notes that the name of Jesus ( Philippians 2:10) is a name honored and empowered above every other name on earth. The phrase the same mind (hina 106 to auto phronete) occurs in Paul four times (Rom 12:16; 15:5; 2 Cor 13:11; Phil 4:2). It does not mean that Paul wants the Philippians to hold to exactly the same opinion on every issue.
